Are water purification tablets safe? They are much more safe than
drinking water with bleach in it.

Thinking of using bleach Instead?
If you're a hard core prepper and you're thinking you don't need
water purification tablets, then think again! The main issue is
that chlorine potency is only six months, so you're gambling that
it will have any effect at helping you secure potable water.
Another thing is that using bleach requires

Water Preserver vs. Chlorine Bleach
You may wonder whether you can drink water with bleach in it.
The answer is complex. You should never drink pool water or
anything treated with
pool shock. There's a science to using
chlorine to making water potable. Though you could use bleach to
purify your water, you'll always wonder whether it's safe to drink
water with bleach in it because you may have the incorrect
proportions.

Also, while you could use chlorine bleach, it's not so convenient.
First, you'll need to add 16 drops of liquid chlorine bleach per
gallon of water. That's the science behind the proper proportions
according the Red Cross, but in an emergency you don't want to
count and you likely don't have a dropper handy. Another problem
is that chlorine usually comes with scents and this is not for
drinking! Another big reason that chlorine isn't a good option is
that bleach expires. These are just some of the reasons not to
use chlorine bleach and not to buy too much bleach.

Here's more on
bleach storage and expiration tips for preppers.
